How does vaginal child birth cause stress incontinence in women ? Does it happen with C-sections, too ?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I was wondering if some one coudl explain to me how vaginal child birth disrupts the bladder and causes stress incontinence in women ? Also, does it happen if a woman has a c-section ? And, if natural child birth (vagina) causes al these problems for women, why recommend it instead of a c-section ?

In vaginal birth the uterus can prolapse and put pressure on the bladder. Vaginal births are preferred to c-sections because there are less risk associated with vaginal births.

Is urinary incontinence normal when someone is constipated?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

And can being chronically constipated make the urinary incontinence permanent?
No trauma on my back. I just have chronic constipation.

No this would not make incontinence permanent. Find out what is causing it and get it treated. Get the constipation treated too.

what are the best incontinence aids, reflux remedies and corn pads for seniors?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

hope this is a more suitable question for seniors and won’t be deleted.

I don’t need incontinence yet. :-) or corn pads, but I can put out some corny answers. I do have acid reflux because I eat stuff I shouldn’t…just use Omezperal. Guess that’s how it’s spelled. :-) And I don’t always take it, then I whine…or I guess I groan…to myself.

Is there a pill I can take for stress incontinence?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

I want to be able to prevent leakage of urine when laughing, sneezing or coughing but I dont want to do any surgery. The Kegals dont work for me or maybe I am not doing it right. I am 32 and I have 1 child.

nope, no medications will tighten up that sphincter, only the kegels will do that, and they must be done religiously to have any effect. I too had the same problem after two children, and while I still do kegels religiously, I finally opted for the surgery, it really wasn’t that big a deal.

Has Incontinence effected your relationship with your children?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Has needing to wear incontinence protection effected, positively or negatively, the relationship you share with your kids, or your spouse? Are they embarrassed by you, do they know, does your relationship as a father/mother differ from that of someone who is not incontinent? Thank You

my mother had this problem but it never effected her relationship with her children (there are7 of us) or with our step father who loved her to the day we lost her.
The only difference was we bought her bigger purses so she could carry what she needed when she was out and on loner rips we stopped more often.
But there is know reason it should effect their lives or how people feel or treat them

Are there any medical insurance plans that cover cost associated with incontinence products?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I am interested in finding an insurer who will cover, at least in part, costs associated with wearing reusable (washable) adult (cloth) diapers? Does anyone know if such an insurer exists in the United States?

No such horse.

The only people who would ever buy that coverage, are the people who want to use it.

If you want to use cloth diapers, and don’t want to pay for adult sized ones (which go for around $50 each), you should look into sewing them. It would take around $10 of materials, and two hours of time, for each diaper.

Would you a medical device that cures urinary incontinence and rehabilitates the pelvic floor.?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

You would need to do daily exercises for a couple of weeks. These exercises would be monitored by a doctor to make sure that you were doing them correctly.

Would you do this to end your incontinence?
Problem with the Kegels is that most women don’t do them correctly or at all. This device tracks your daily activity to ensure that you will do them.

yes if i was incontenant sure. Beats piddling yourself.

Is there a resonable alternative to diapers for male urinary incontinence?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Incontinent due to pregressive nerve damage and I wear diapers 24 / 7. I work 4 ten hour days a week and am traveling frequently. At home I wear cloth diapers but when I’m on the road I use disposable diapers for obvious reasons.

Do you have to wear incontinence pads?

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

I am curious to know if some women wear incontinence pads because they pee there pants or is it just laziness. That has to be uncomfortable to wear.

NO!!! a lady who wears these is having a very difficult time controling her bladder…and some bladder problems are very serious…women do not like wearing bulky pads…but there is a reason why they have to…you really need to educate yourself with this more to fully understand it..please refrain from assuming these medical problems are just laziness…its certainly not the case

What can I take to stop the incontinence?

Friday, November 20th, 2009

I’m 40 and I go to the restroom before work and then fecal matter comes out while I walk around. Is there anything I can take?

This could be happening for several reasons. Your anal sphincter muscle could not be working well. Sometimes this happens after anal intercourse.

Another reason is that you may not be eating enough fiber. If the discharge is liquid or very loose, you may want to try eating more fiber, maybe a bran muffin or bran cereal.

Not drinking enough fluid also sometimes creates problems. Are you drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day?
