My friend is getting me a new bed and mattress instead of my hospital bed.
I wear condom catheters that come off sometimes when I’m in bed.
So I need a good way to protect the mattress.
I don’t know what to try,pond liners or tarp or a bed protector.
The ones they sell at kmart are too fragile for me.
They only last like, 3 times.
Any ideas?

A water-proof mattress cover. It encases the entire mattress and zips up. You can also get a water-proof mattress pad to put over to of the cover for extra coverage.

These can be purchased at Walmart and Target.

Depends.

Some will, some wont. Most are for prescription medications only.

You can order items direct to your house, however. It would come in an unmarked box and is usually just as inexpensive. Drugstore.com, Walmart.com, or do a google search or "adult diapers" or "incontinence products".

I hope someone can help me. I started having urine incontinence and diarrea about 2 weeks before my period started. I’m not talking about a little leakage. It was a flood. I would feel my bladder cramp and before I could get up and run to t he bathroom I had already wet myself. I also experience diarrhea also before my period. Is this normal?

The diarrhea could be due to the change in hormones and is not that uncommon. The incontinence should be checked out by your doctor. Sometimes bladders do act up during this time as well, as if the menstruation irritates it. Could you have a urinary tract infection or bladder infection? Only your doc can tell.
Stress incontinence can worsen during the week before your menstrual period. At that time, lowered estrogen levels might lead to lower muscular pressure around the urethra, increasing chances of leakage. The incidence of stress incontinence increases following menopause.

I understand that urethral stents force the urethra open to allow the passage of urine. If you so desired, could you get such a thing permanently installed to cause incontinence in the user?

Well, it does seem possible that a stent would do that; but why would anyone want this to happen? I’m curious, if only because it sounds like such an unusual desire.

I would venture a guess that you would not be able to find a licensed physician to do such a thing, either.

I bathe daily and use wipes after using the washroom and can still smell urine. This is even after showering. I also need and use panty shield and change frequently. I am so embarassed and hope noone else can smell this. I had a bladder suspension 1.5 years ago and I can’t get the office clerk to give me any suggestions. sorry but excersises are the best and only real way to cure it htere are some drugs but the main way is pelvic floor or kegal excersises – the effects will start with in a week or so

Only a physician or a nurse practitioner can prescribe. Basically, you need to visit your doctor. If you have a prescription, your insurance may cover part or all of the expense!
