Kegel exercises can straighten the pelvic floor muscles, that support the uterus, bladder and bowel. If you   perform kegel exercises on daily basis and keep your pelvic floor muscles well toned, you may reduce risks of incontinence and similar problems as you get older. Kegel exercises can help you control urinary incontinence.<br />
Conditions that put stress on your pelvic floor muscles:</p>

If you have trouble finding the right muscles don&#8217;t be embarrassed to ask for help. Your doctor or other health care providers can get important information that you can learn to isolate and exercise that right muscles.</p>
<p><strong> 2.	Improve your technique</strong><br />
Once you found your pelvic floor muscles, empty your bladder and sit down.<br />
Step 1. Contract to your pelvic floor muscles<br />
Step 2. Hold that contraction for 3 seconds then relax for 3 seconds.<br />
Step 3. Repeat 10 to 15 times.<br />
Step 4. Once you have improved the 3-second muscle contractions try to increase the time to 4 seconds, alternating muscle contractions with a 4 second rest period. After a while, increase to 5 seconds, repeating the same task.<br />
Step 5. Work up to keeping the muscles contracted for 10 seconds at a time, relaxing for 10 seconds between contractions.<br />
Focus on tightening only your pelvic floor muscle or isolating your pelvic floor muscle. Be careful not to flex the muscles in your abdomen. Just relax, and try not to hold your breath. Breathe freely and focus on tightening the muscles around your vagina and rectum.</p>
<p><strong> 3.	Repeat 3 times a day.</strong><br />
You can perform a set of 5 to 10 kegel exercises three times a day. Exercises will get easier the more you do them.</p>
<p><strong>When to expect results.<br />
</strong> If you do kegel exercises on daily basis, you can expect to see some results. You should get less frequent urine leakage within about 8 to 12 weeks. The improvement may be dramatic or, at least, you may keep your problems from worsening.<br />
Do kegel exercises as much as possible to reap lifelong rewards.</p>

<br />Start to urinate then use your muscles to stop the flow of urine and then release and start urinating again.  Do this until you have a feel for what muscles you need to use to stop the flow of urine.  You can then do this anytime you want once you know which muscles to tighten.</p>

<p>Why would I want to do kegel exercises?</p>
<p>Kegeling provides many benefits:<br />
Conditioned muscles will make birth easier, and your perineum will more likely be intact (fewer tears and episiotomies)<br />
Sexual enjoyment is enhanced for both partners<br />
It can prevent prolapses of pelvic organs<br />
It can help prevent leaking urine when you sneeze or cough<br />
How do I do the kegel exercise? </p>
<p>Once you have located the muscles simply tighten and relax the mucsle over and over, about 200 times a day. These are basic kegels. There are many variations on kegels: elevator kegels (Where you tighten slowly, in increments going in and out, like an elevator stopping on several floors.), you can hold the muscle tightened for five seconds, you can bulge the muscles out at the end, and many other variations.</p>

<br />A kegel is the name of a pelvic floor exercise, named after Dr. Kegel who discovered the exercise. These muscles are attached to the pelvic bone and act like a hammock, holding in your pelvic organs. To isolate these muscles try stopping and starting the flow of urine. Involuntary leakage of urine (urinary incontinence) is the bane of many of us who&#8217;ve reached our 40&#8217;s — and often affects younger women, too. Decreasing levels of estrogen can weaken the muscles that have control over the urethra (the tube carrying urine from the bladder to the outside of the body). Other factors, such as weight gain as we get older, can make incontinence worse.</p>
<p> Kegel exercises are designed to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles (also called your PC muscles ). Kegel exercises can be good for women who are experiencing incontinence (as a result of childbirth, medical treatment, or changes/stress on the body), and they have also been recommended as a way of changing how orgasms feel (some, but not all, women say it enhances their orgasms).</p>
<p>The basic exercise can be done anytime and anywhere. Just squeeze your PC muscles as hard as you can, and hold them. This is doing a kegel exercise. Start by squeezing and holding for a count of 3-5 seconds, then release and relax for 5 seconds. When you release, notice how your muscles feel. The first time you do a kegel exercise see how many times you can do it before you feel your muscles getting tired.</p>
<p>kegel exercises will be most efficient and have the most impact if you get into doing sets of repetitions of the squeezing. Once you’ve found your baseline, you can work from there. If you can, start with doing 5 repetitions (squeeze/hold/release). Judge for yourself how long you can hold the squeeze for, but don’t push yourself too much at first. </p>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve found your baseline, do your exercises, and every couple of days increase both the length of time you hold the squeeze for, and the number of exercises per set. As a guideline, try to work up to a point where you can hold the squeeze for ten seconds. And try to work up to doing ten reps of kegel exercises per set. So you squeeze, hold for ten second, release, relax for ten seconds, and repeat ten times.people will use a toy or kegel exercising device to add resistance to kegel exercises. This is not necessary, and while some sex educators suggest it increases the usefulness of the exercise, doing them on your own is still a great way to develop your PC muscle. If you are interested in purchasing a product for kegel exercises, make sure it isn’t too large</p>
<p>Tips:<br />
Isolate the PC muscle when doing your kegel exercises. At the beginning, remember to regularly check that you are exercising your PC muscle, and not other muscles. Avoid contracting your abdominal, thigh, or buttocks muscles. This is something many people do, but it reduces the effectiveness of the kegel exercise Concentrate on breathing and trying to keep yourself relaxed, and only tense the PC muscles you are using. Try not to tense up your whole body.</p>
<p>Finding time to do your kegel exercises. You don’t need to set aside a big chunk of time to do kegel exercises. Do a few reps while waiting for a stop light to turn green. In the last ten minutes before lunch, when you’re sitting at a desk, do a few reps. Do them while you’re waiting for the movie to start, or a commercial break to be over. </p>
<p>Don’t overdo your kegel exercises.Like any exercise, it’s important to build up slowly, and pay attention to your body. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort, you are pushing yourself too hard. It is possible that you could strain the muscles and aggravate a current problem, when you are trying to resolve it.</p>
<p>Kegel exercise products can be fun and helpful but they aren’t necessary.There are more and more products, often called “kegelcisors” on the market. While some of these can genuinely increase the strengthening exercises, and some of them double as fun sex toys, remember that they are not necessary. The problem was that she waited until it was too late for the kegels.  So, keep up the kegels and don&#8217;t give up hope !!  And for those of you that are waiting, don&#8217;t wait&#8230;.see your doctor soon, and start those kegels now.  It is much easier than the surgery.</p>

<br />Unlike what Aisha said, Kegel Exercises don&#8217;t only benefit females, but males also. They are something that will take a while to work, not immediately. You can take her advice on how to allow you to last longer during sexual stimulation, but you should also continue to do the Kegel Exercises. Just like any muscle, it&#8217;ll take a while for it to strengthen, depending on how often you use it, how long you exercise it and so on.,<br />
Read the sites I&#8217;ve listed below and others like it to find more information on it. There are many books and websites to help you better understand how to do it. You can always talk to your doctor for more information on the PC muscles and Kegel exercises. You have to do Kegel exercises consistently to see the results of this in a good amount of time. There are other methods to use to control ejaculation that last for the short time (that one sexual experience) which you have probably already figured out. Kegel exercises are to be done in free time, not during sexual activity. Refer to the websites for more information. Hope this helps.</p>

My gut moves a little too, is it a big deal? Is that something that will get better over time? Like I said, I&#8217;m just curious.</p>

<p>The best I have come to Identity the muscle is while you are using the bathroom, stop peeing mid way through, if you can do that, then you are controlling that muscle.. just do that while you are not peeing.</p>

<br />the muscles of the pelvic floor are like all other muscles&#8230;if you can contract them enough&#8230;they will become stronger.  The problem is that they are pretty small&#8230;and difficult to contract effectively.<br />
I&#8217;d recommend buying a book on the real Kaegal exercises.  The real technique goes beyond simply stopping your urine flow&#8230;they actually involved contracting them arround your fingers (for example) so that you are contracting them correctly etc.</p>

I&#8217;ve done it before, I used to be able to stop half way, but now when I try it doesn&#8217;t work.<br />
<br />If you are young this will not stop effect your flow.  You know you are working the right muscles if when you pee you try to stop the flow completely.  If you can stop peeing, you know where the kegel exercises are targeting.  Just squeeze and hold and release.  If you are having incontinence issues, see a doctor.  They can help, young or old.</p>

<p>My husband says things are &quot;fine&quot; but I honestly disagree! Things don&#8217;t seem the same as they did when we were newly weds and it&#8217;s very frustrating for someone in their mid 20&#8217;s!! (or any age I suppose!)Once you start doing Kegel exercises, how long does it take to really notice a difference?? And how did they benefit you?<br />
<br />I recently started taking Belly Dancing classes. I&#8217;ve been dancing for 3 months now and I noticed a changed within the first couple of weeks. I mention this because this dance requires you to use all of the muscles &quot;down there&quot; used and needed during child birth.  Kegel exercises are very important.  It strengthens your core from the inside out!  My instructor had a hysterectomy, and because of her strong internal muscles &#8211; her recovery time was very quick. Belly Dancing was used before, during, and after pregnancy for the very reason of quick recovery time and ease of birthing.  It will also help for when you get older.  Some older folks have bladder control issues, of course for various reasons. But one of those is due to weak muscles. If you start building muscle strength now, you won&#8217;t have to worry about &quot;tinkling every time you sneeze&quot; (quoted by my instructor).</p>
<p>Anyway, definitely do the Kegels. I do them while I&#8217;m on line at the supermarket! It costs nothing and you will lose nothing. All you have is to gain! While you&#8217;re at it &#8211; check into a belly dancing class &#8211; it&#8217;s so much fun!</p>

<br />I feel very loose down there, since having a baby.  I&#8217;ve tried doing kegal exercises, and I can feel them, feels like they&#8217;re working. But, I never remember to do them religiously.  I need to find a way to remember, having tried them, I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;ll work. Kegal exercises are designed to make your kegal muscles tighter.</p>

<br />You should perform them around 100 times to see effect, as far as I know.<br />
